8/18/2016
Oreo Supreme is my husband's favorite dessert. I have to admit that it has been quite a while since I made one. Since it's my husband's birthday next week, I am going to surprise him with this! This dessert has so many names aside from Oreo Supreme. Some call it No-Bake Oreo Cake, Oreo Overload Cake and Oreo Float. For me? I don't care what it's called as long as it's loaded with Oreo! What you need for this dessert are Oreo vanilla-filled cookies, all purpose cream and condensed milk.
First thing you need to do is to crush your Oreo cookies. You can crush them finely or you can also just break them apart if you want the chunkiness. The good thing about this dessert is that you can modify it to your liking! Next, prepare a dish or individual jars like what I did on the photo. Clean them up well, dry and set aside for when you are ready to assemble. Combine your all purpose cream and your condensed milk. Next step is the fun part! Just layer your crushed Oreo cookies and APC and condensed milk mixture alternately then top with crushed Oreo's. You can even go crazy and add chocolate chips on top! All up to you! Cover then freeze for 2-4 hours and serve with a smile! This dessert will make you a kitchen goddess to your family or friends after they have tried this! So easy, right?! You can check the Oreo Supreme Recipe on my blog if you want to follow my measurements. What do you think? 8/8/2016
If you can't beat them, join them! This is my take regarding this Pokemon craze right now. With the recent official release of Pokemon Go in the Philippines, my husband and son who are both anime fanatics, went caaraaaayzzzeeee big time. I on the other hand, a rom-com addict, couldn't care less about these rare Pokemons that they kept talking about. Until I tried playing it. And got hooked. I play using my son's account. Well it's my account technically. I set up my own account first then created my son's account under my registration because he is a minor and I can say that I play the game more than my kid. I am hooked. Living in between 2 Pokestops doesn't help either. I slept late last night because someone kept setting up lures on the Pokestops and I kept telling myself "Just one last Pokemon, then I'll go to sleep." This went on until past 2am. Sigh. Coffee please. Despite the negative feedback from some people about the game, I see it as an opportunity for my family to bond together. Here is something that we all like doing together, so why not make the most out of it! I know that there will come a time when my kids' won't tell me everything about their lives so I am taking this opportunity to get my son talking to me with such carefree attitude. Just don't tell him I discarded his incense by accident, okay? :) "You caught me a Weepinbell?? Thank you mom!!!" That my friends, is music to my ears. We talk about evolving Pokemons, incubating eggs and how to catch Pokemons that keep getting out of the Pokeballs. We went Pokemon hunting over the weekend and we had so much fun! My son was walking and running around IT Park with his dad catching Pokemons and collecting balls while my daughter and I ran after them and cheered them on. To be honest? I was more ecstatic about catching Bellsprouts and Staryus than them. I may even have shrieked like a lunatic when a Horsea appeared much to the embarrassment of my family. LOL What can I say. I'm a noob but I love that we are bonding over this very popular game. Since it is a very addictive and some say dangerous, I make sure that my son knows that with most things in life, there are guidelines and policies that he needs to follow. If you are a mom/parent of Pokemon kids. below are some tips to help ensure that the kids stay safe and sound while playing the game. Parent's Guide to Pokemon Go
1. Make Pokemon hunting a family event Since the game requires the players to move around, my husband and I go with our son on his Pokemon adventures. I think this makes a great family activity because like I said, if you can't beat them, join them! Take groufies of you as a family on your hunting trips and place them in albums. Not discounting other family activities, I just think that this is an addition to the many adventures that you can undertake as a family. I am pretty sure that when they are all grown up, they will not remember the rare Pokemons that you guys caught but I know that they will remember YOU being there. 2. Keep away from danger Pokemon is a very social game. Players go out, meet new people and talk about gyms and battles with other players. For me, it is best to accompany your kids when they go hunting especially for grade school age. We can never discount some reports in the US that people have been getting robbed at Pokestops. No similar reports in Cebu yet but it is always better to be safe than sorry. Going in groups helps in deterring bad people with bad intentions from approaching. Also, teach your kids to never give personal information to strangers. Again, it is best that young kids be accompanied by adults when playing the game. 3. Respect private areas With some Pokestops set up in private areas, I made sure to let my son know that in no way is he going to trespass. There are so many Pokestops in public areas so it is best to just move along. 4. No Pokemon Go on school days This one is easier to implement for us because this rule has been established in our house ever since he got a tablet a couple of years ago. School days are for homework and studying. He can only play every Friday and Saturday. Again, the game can be addicting and we don't want their grades getting compromised because of Pokemon training. 5. Remind them to watch their steps at all times Even with the warning shown upon opening the game, it is always best to remind your kid each time they play. No catching of Pokemons in the middle of the street and no climbing up walls and fences. This is when playing with the AR off becomes handy because as long as the Pokemon is withing the area, there is no need to really point the camera on the item to catch it. 6. Turn off in-app purchases Make sure that you turn off in-app purchases on your phone if your kid is using your personal phone. Especially if you are a postpaid subscriber! You don't want to end up with a 5k bill just because your kid has been purchasing coins and Pokeballs without your knowledge. My son is using a pre-paid sim so he is unable to do this on his own especially that I subscribe him to data promos only. 7. Lastly, make sure to have fun with your kids!
